What a great show….almost 850 wines from over 150 producers from cool climate areas all over Australia. This year the wine of the show went to a Central Ranges Wine (yeah), the 2013 Twisted River Shiraz Viognier. Helen and Michelle make their wines from fruit grown not too far from Manildra, NSW. Congratulations Helen and Michelle! Another very local winemaker, George Clark from Bellbrook Friends, bagged a trophy with his 2013 Bellbrook Friends Chardonnay. George and Diana are members of the Bathurst Regional Vigneron’s Association and good friends.
As Chair of this show, I know it is not always easy and definitely a lot of work…But when I see results like this and locals like George and Diana and Helen and Michelle receive high plaudits, I feel pretty good. It’s also timely to mention what a fantastic group of volunteers we have. They make what appears to be an insurmountable challenge quite manageable….a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your time and selfless support.
Spring is well and truly here…I’m not sure I know where the month of September and October went. So far, I have had only a small amount of frost damage at Bella Luna Vineyard in O’Connell and very little, if any, damage at the Mount Panorama Estate Vineyard in Bathurst. We have had a good start to the 2014/15 growing season. As always, I am hopeful that this year will bring the vintage of the century for me and other local growers. Keep your fingers crossed.
Art in The Vines @ Renzaglia Wines
We are excited to hold this relaxed and inspiring event again at our vineyard in O’Connell. Sunday 9th Nov….10am-4pm. Come by and see us. We’ll have our little cellar door open and there’ll be some interesting works of art for sale (pottery, spun alpaca creations, paintings, sculptures etc). Bring a picnic and your paints/pencils and join in with the creative atmosphere.
