Made with fruit from the Orange region from Hedberg Hill, which is now owned by Tom Ward’s Swinging Bridge, this is the second Tempranillo we have made (the first being back in 2013). The fruit was crushed into open fermenters and cold settled for 3 days prior to fermentation using cultured yeasts. After fermentation the wine was pressed to tanks where it was aged in old oak barriques for 12 months prior to bottling.
Our Stone Wall Tempranillo is dark red in colour with clove, blackberry and a small amount of toasty oak on the nose. This is a medium bodied wine that follows with raspberries, blueberries, liquorice and dried herbs on the palate. The oak and tannins are seemlessly integrated with the fruit to provide good balance and mouthfeel.
Should age well for at least 5-8 years.
