2021 Murnang White di Renzo

$32.00 inc. GST
Aromatic, textural and unctuous. The Murnang White di Renzo is an incredibly versatile food wine. Especially alongside Asian food.
The Murnang White di Renzo label features a painting by Luke Sciberras of the Murnang, or Yam daisy. Once the foundational carbohydrate source in the Wiradjuri diet, these lovely plants are seldom seen in the wild today. One might hypothesise that this is a result of their dependence on human hands in order to multiply and proliferate. Today the Murnang is almost never seen on Australian tables. We hope to see that change. Through some keen local plant people we have some Murnangs growing in Sandy’s garden that have been grown from seeds donated by the fanatical Geoff and Judie Windsor. Our hope is to one day have enough seed of our own to share amongst other keen plant people, particularly within the Wiradjuri community and to even have Murnangs growing within the mid row of the Bella Luna Vineyard.

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (45%), Arneis (32%), Gewurztraminer (17%) and Chardonnay (6%). The Sauvignon Blanc, Arneis and Gewurtz all came from the Boree Lane vineyard in Orange and the Chardonnay is from the Amaroo road vineyard between Orange and Molong. The wine was fermented in a 3000L concrete cube tank and was kept in there on its full lees for 7 months. Full malo, no fining and a light filtration prior to being bottled on 15 September 2021.

Ripe pear, jasmine, apple blossom, Dried herbs, lively texture and phenolics, oregano,  mandarin, rosemary, a bit of a spritz, good acid, green mango. Beautiful fruit and texture. Lively and delicious.
