WINEMAKING NOTES
A blend of Barbera (25%), Primitivo (20%), Shiraz (20%) Nebbiolo (19%), Pinot Noir (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) sourced from 3 different vineyards- Boree Lane, Cargo Road and Kylie and Scott Mosley’s.
The Barbera, Primitivo and half the Nebbiolo were cold soaked prior to pressing and fermentation off skins in, the other half of the Nebbiolo and the Cabernet underwent carbonic maceration and the Shiraz was fermented 100% whole bunch. All of the must eventually found it’s way into our new 2000L concrete cube after each portion of the blend had spent it’s appropriate time on skins. The blend spent the following 7 months in concrete without any additions or agitation prior to a small sulphur addition, light filtration and bottling on September 15th 2021.

TASTING NOTES
Light as a red an be, or dark as a rose can be, we’re thrilled with the 2021 Nuovo. An enticing interplay between ripe strawberry and rhubarb alongside what we have found to be integral to this wine- a savoury herbaceous, tried herbal side from the whole bunch shiraz component. In the mouth it’s lively again, the acid is high and pomegranate comes to mind. A light effervescence to finish makes for exciting drinking!
