2023 Nuovo di Renzo

Another multi regional light red blend to stop the nation. The 2023 Nuovo di Renzo is made with Sangiovese from First Ridge Wines- Mudgee, Graciano and Merlot from Freeman Vineyards- Kingsvale, Shiraz and Cabernet from Winooka Park- Gemalla. As always, a swathe of different maceration techniques utilised to create a fine boned wine that exhibits tension between freshness, savouriness and lightness whilst retaining adequate tannin weight and depth. The blend was brought together in one of our Nico Velo concrete tanks in April and was held there on full lees without any additions made for 8 months when the wine was racked to tank for bottling with a light sulphur addition.

TASTING NOTES

A very enticing Orange/Ruby colour. Earth, smoke raspberry, cranberry, rhubarb, rosemary, white pepper, cocoa. Blackberry jubes, good acid line, dusty tingly tannins that last some time. Fine boned, detailed, lithe and pretty. A bitter edge is there lending freshness.
