2021 Renzaglia Sauvignon Blanc

$40.00 inc. GST
A rich, yet fresh and compelling example of Sauvignon Blanc. Fermented and matured in a foudre and a new barrique- this one could very well change your mind on the variety.
WINEMAKING NOTES

The fruit came from Boreelane, Orange made from a clone referred to by the Viticulturist Geoff Cook as “the Bordeaux clone”. Anyhow- we enjoyed the classic Sauvignon Blanc tropical fruit and citrus pfiff alongside subdued herbaceous notes in the fruit. We received the fruit and it was fermented in 2 vessels- our 750L foudre ‘Frank’ and a new Cavin barrique. They were fermented with wild yeasts and were held on full yeast lees for 7 months without any sulphur additions until just before bottling. It was lightly filtered due to the fact that it hadn’t gone through Malolactic fermentation prior to bottling in September.

DESCRIPTION

Some deeper straw tones to what you might usually expect from Sauvignon Blanc. It smells of white flowers, hay, lime juice and very ripe feijoa. In the mouth there’s grapefruit rind, lime juice and green pineapple all of these intense flavours are kept in check by a rich texture that evokes bread dough and cooking spice.
