2024 Murnang di Renzo

$35.00 inc. GST
2024 Murnang is an unctuous and exciting blend of Vermentino and Riesling. Fermented in concrete and matured in stainless steel. A delicious orange wine.
WINEMAKING NOTES

Back on deck with a good sized Murnang production in 2024. As has become the status quo with this wine it’s predominant varietal is Vermentino, grown at First Ridge in Mudgee on the first, very rocky ridge driving East out of Mudgee sitting at 500m asl. Always some of the first grapes of the harvest for us, we send them directly to tank for fermentation on skins with a lengthy, 6 week maceration prior to pressing to stainless. Vermentino makes up 2/3 of the blend.

The other 1/3 is Riesling from Patina in Orange. Destemmed to tank and held on skins for 1 month without any cap management prior to pressing to puncheon. Held on full ferment lees for 10 months.

Blend assembled without any fining and a very rough filtration to clarify the wine without removing any character due to a degree of cloudiness that was hanging around.

TASTING NOTES

Papaya, pickled ginger, ginger, waxy, dried rosemary and sea spray. An inviting nose ladened with savoury and floral interest interspersed throughout. Undertones of leesy richness and turned earth. An undeniable unctuosity. Soft, pillowy, with a lemon blossom meringue acid line and powdery tannin structure carrying it across the palate.
