Made with some lovely fruit from Cargo Road Wines grown by James Sweetapple from 15-year-old vines growing on some very rock red basalt rite in Lidster on the Western side of Orange. The fruit had some nice botrytis through it and we hand-picked being sure to keep the good botrytis. The fruit was whole bunch pressed hard and slow to extract some phenolics and texture. The wine was fermented in foudre and stainless steel by indigenous yeasts and was stopped whilst there was still a small amount of residual sugar, at the point where the ideal balanced was reached. It was then aged on full lees without any stirring for 7 months prior to bottling without fining and with sterile filtration.
TASTING NOTES
The 2022 Premium Riesling is brimming with personality showing pronounced tension between richness and brightness. The nose evokes apple blossom, just ripe white peach, Feijoa and bread dough. There’s oodles of texture in the mouth which creates a great counterpoint to the high acid. This sit’s alongside notes of pear, fresh lime and a very savoury acidity that is screaming out for some food.

Alcohol: 11.7
pH: 3.05
Residual Sugar: Approx 5g/L

Green fruit focus here, apples, lime blossom, dried mint. Light dairy note of lime curd. It delivers all the Riesling thrills, high acidity, tension, floral and citrus prefume. It’s crisp with light mineral dust. Leaves a nice aftertaste but is lightly dispersed towards the end, fading out a little bit too quickly to my liking. Tasty, no less.
